This past week has been a throw back to years gone by as the Coy Racing team had 3 races in 8 days…Riverhead Raceway in NY, Thompson Speedway in CT and Star Speedway in NH. It was a 1200 mile / 20+ hour marathon of racing. The 3 race run started on Saturday June 9th at a dance recital? Yep, Richie’s daughter, Kyra, had her dance recital on June 9th. The team split and sent the truck and trailer to Riverhead early and Richie and Johnny went to the dance recital. The team put Alan Chambers in the car in… Read More »

Coy Racing Gets First Top Ten of the Season at Wiscassett

Posted on June 5, 2018Comments are off

After a rain out at Star Speedway on May 19th, the Coy Racing team loaded up and headed to Maine and Wiscasset Speedway this past Saturday. After a long trip the car unloaded and ran ok in the first practice. The guys were happy that the power steering issues found after Waterford were fixed. The second round the guys bolted on some new tires and the car responded and was very good. However, the team decided to save those tires for the feature and bolted on a set of older tires for the heat – big mistake! Richie fought hard,… Read More »

Coy Racing Bounces Back at Waterford

Posted on May 7, 2018Comments are off

It’s been a long few weeks since Thompson. There was nothing left of the motor after the opening race. However, Circle Performance was able to work us into his schedule and the team got a new motor built on installed in the car Thursday (2 days ahead of Waterford). The guys loaded up and left for Waterford Saturday with the prospect of a good run. The day started off very strange as, parking became an issue as their were too many teams on hand through out all the divisions. The staff did as good a job as they could and… Read More »

Thompson Becomes the Heartbreaker in Season Opener

Posted on April 26, 2018Comments are off

The 2018 season started a few weeks back at Thompson Motorsports Park. The NEMA Lite cars were scheduled to be apart of the Saturday 2018 Icebreaker event. The guys loaded up and headed out early Saturday morning to get to the track in time for some early practice. It was a cold misty/flurry morning, but the team unloaded and got ready for some big track practice. Unfortunately, only one lap into practice Richie pulled off with motor issues. After some diagnostics in the pits, the team found that the brand new motor had blew up after just one lap of… Read More »

Coy Racing Ends Season with a Final Top Ten

Posted on October 23, 2017Comments are off

The Coy Racing season has come to a close this past weekend at the Waterford Speedbowl with a non-points race. This race was only added a week or so ago and the team decided they would go, but they were not going to buy any new tires for this race. So, needless to say it was a tough day of racing. The car performed as well as could be expected with nothing but used tires on the car all day. Richie drew the last place pill, so he started 7th in the heat race. The feature line-up would be set… Read More »

It’s been quite a while since the Coy Racing team was at Thompson and they have made a lot of improvements since then and they showed. The team headed back to Wiscasset Speedway this past Saturday. It was a NEMA Lites only and it was the big 65 lap race! The team unloaded and the car was decent, in fact the car was decent all day. Richie started 3rd in his heat race. He quickly jumped out to the lead and lead the first couple of laps. He was passed around halfway, but would come home 2nd. Fresh off their latest top 5 at Monadnock, the guys were pumped and ready to duplicate that top 5 again. The car unloaded pretty quick and Richie was just outside the top 5 on the speed charts in both practices. Handicapping put Richie starting on the outside pole in his heat race. On the start, He quickly jumped out to the lead. He was able to hold the lead until just past halfway when he would get past and… Read More »

Mid Summer Stretch Ends with a Top 5

Posted on September 5, 2017Comments are off

It’s been a while since our last update. We’ve had two trips to Waterford, a trip to Star and a debut at Monadnock in that time. Here is a quick synopsis of those races… New-London Waterford Speedbowl – August 12th Excerpt from Richie Coy’s post: “We had a decent car all day at Waterford. I learned a lot behind the wheel. We also learned that we’re down quite a lot in the horsepower department. It doesn’t show at the smaller tracks, but it showed at Waterford big time yesterday. We’ve got a plan to try and close the gap over… Read More »

Coy Racing snags first Top 5 of the Season

Posted on July 31, 2017Comments are off

The guys had a 6.5 hour ride to Speedway 51 this past weekend, so they left on Friday night. They drove about 4 hours and stayed in Springfield, VT. This left them 2.5 hours on Saturday morning. In true racer fashion, they left at 9 am to head to the track. The gates opened at 2 pm, so they got there a bit early and were the first hauler in line. No one on the team had been to the track before, so they used the time to walk the property and the track. The track is a high banked… Read More »
