Coy Racing Snags Another Finish in NEMA Lite Division

Posted on July 17, 2017Comments are off

This past Saturday, the Coy Racing team headed back to Seekonk Speedway for a Lites only race. The team was expecting a fight with the weather, but it turned out to be an awesome day for racing. The #19 Mach-1 Performance midget unloaded and performed all day. It was the first race all season that the car started, ran and came back to the pits with no mechanical issues for all sessions! The team is very happy with that. The on track performance wasn’t quite what the team was looking for, but they did put another finish in the books… Read More »

The guys loaded up and headed to Star Speedway this past Saturday. It was round 8 for the NEMA Lite series. After a week and half off and a lot of changes, the team was ready to have a good night and they did, sort of! The day started with a quick monsoon as teams started to sign in the track. “This is the first time I can remember ever signing into a race track while it drizzled,” Richie laughed. “It all worked out though and we got all our racing in for the night.” The track dried almost instantly… Read More »

Laps lead and another DNF for Coy Racing at Seekonk

Posted on June 30, 2017Comments are off

The team loaded up and headed to Seekonk Speedway this past Wednesday for the 21st Annual Boston Louie Memorial Race and the Dave Steel Tribute Race. The day brought ups and downs again for the #19 Mach-1 Performance Midget. Richie took to the track in practice and it was the fastest the car has been all season in the first two rounds. The car overheated in the 3rd round of practice, which the guys were able to fix. The heat races saw a complete invert of the fastest times in practice to the slowest times. Richie turned the 24th fastest… Read More »

The Tale of Two Races

Posted on June 19, 2017Comments are off

The team hit two tracks this past week…Thompson Speedway on Wednesday and Star Speedway on Saturday. With the run the team had at Riverhead Raceway, last time out and all the changes that came from it, the team headed to Thompson Speedway with high hopes. The 2 practice sessions went well, with the car performing good and no issues. However, it wouldn’t last. Richie started on the pole for heat race number 1 and when he came in for the start, the motor didn’t go. He started first and was last by the end of the front stretch. He managed… Read More »

Coy Racing finally takes a checkered flag in 2017!

Posted on June 5, 2017Comments are off

It’s been a struggle so far for the Coy Racing team in 2017. The transition to the Midget class has been an uphill struggle. While Saturday was another day of struggles, Richie took the first feature checkered flag of the season! The day started off with the final piece of the new power steering being delivered Saturday morning at 9:45am. The team wanted to leave for the track at 10am! That of course did not happen and then team didn’t leave until 12:45. When the guys got to the track, they were able to unload and go directly out for… Read More »

Star and Wiscasset Speedway update

Posted on May 22, 2017Comments are off

The 2017 racing season is 3 races in for Coy Racing. After Thompson Speedway, the guys traveled to Star Speedway for race #2 on May 13th. The day did not go well as Richie only got 3 laps in competition during the event, due to motor issues. The guys had a quick turn around to go to Wiscasset Speedway this past Saturday. They found an issue with the fuel pump during the week. This is what the issue was at Star. A new fuel pump was installed before they left for Wiscasset and the guys headed north to Maine for… Read More »

Coy Racing Makes NEMA Lite Debut

Posted on April 9, 2017Comments are off

The Coy Racing team loaded up on Friday to head to Thompson Speedway ahead of Saturday’s Icebreaker weekend. Thompson is a 3.5 hour journey, however, the guys found a way to make it over 8 hours! It was not intentional, as a broken trailer leaf spring and blown tire made the guys limp back to the shop. Once back at the shop, they borrowed a friend trailer and quickly swapped everything from one trailer to the other. Then restarted the trip. The guys did make it to the track Saturday morning. Practice went OK, with the car presenting some minor… Read More »

Hershey gets Pro Division Win and Coy Clinches Championship

Posted on September 19, 2016Comments are off

This past Saturday set the stage for a great night by Coy Racing and the Mach-1 Performance Legend cars of Richie Coy and Stephen Hershey. The guys loaded up and headed to Bethel Motor Speedway with Richie just needing to start the feature to clinch. As with anything in life, things worth while are not easy. The trailer blew a tire on the way to the track. As par for course, the team pulled over and jumped out a changed it in record time (OK, maybe not but it was fast)! When the cars unloaded, both were fast right out… Read More »

This past Saturday the guys loaded the #21 and #27 Mach-1 Performance Legends in the trailer and headed to Bethel Motor Speedway. Going into the night, Richie needed 48 points to clinch the 2016 Bethel Pro/Master Championship. Stephen is still in the midst of a battle for second. This week was heat race qualifying. Stephen started 5th in the first heat and raced hard to a 4th place finish. Richie started on the pole in the 2nd heat and won it. This put Richie on the outside pole for the feature and Stephen 7th. In the feature, Richie jumped out… Read More »

Richie Goes Back to Back Again!

Posted on September 6, 2016Comments are off

We missed last weeks update, so we will cover it this week… The guys loaded up and headed to Bethel Motor Speedway 2 weeks ago. Both Richie and Stephen drew the 1st heat, with Richie on the outside pole and Stephen starting 4th. Stephen’s diabolical motor issue reared it’s head again and he pulled off, just after the green flag. Richie was outside the leader going into turn 3 on the open lap, when the leader spun and collected the #21 Mach-1 Performance car. Richie restarted last and was able to work his way back to the lead by the… Read More »
