Mid Summer Stretch Ends with a Top 5

It’s been a while since our last update. We’ve had two trips to Waterford, a trip to Star and a debut at Monadnock in that time. Here is a quick synopsis of those races…

New-London Waterford Speedbowl – August 12th
Excerpt from Richie Coy’s post: “We had a decent car all day at Waterford. I learned a lot behind the wheel. We also learned that we’re down quite a lot in the horsepower department. It doesn’t show at the smaller tracks, but it showed at Waterford big time yesterday. We’ve got a plan to try and close the gap over the next 2 weeks.
Anyway, finished 13th. Fourth finish in a row and the car rolled into the trailer with no damage.”

Star Speedway – August 19th
The team didn’t have the run they were hoping for at Star, but another finish in the books – fifth in a row. We can’t seem to get the package together at the same time. We got the motor running better yesterday and we lost ground with the chassis. We keep plugging away each week. Richie finished 14th.

New-London Waterford Speedbowl – August 26th
The guys had a good day at the Waterford Speedbowl! Richie started outside pole in the heat and finished 4th. That put us in the handicapping for the feature. Richie started 3rd in the feature but, fell all the way back to 13th on the start. He fought hard all race and came back to 10th place finish. The motor is running good, check… The car turning pretty good, check… The driver, well that’s a work in process!

Monadnock Speedway – September 2nd
The guys loaded up this past Saturday and headed to Monadnock Speedway in NH. We had some special guest, as Richie’s Wife and daughter made their first trip to the track. Jeannie Coy made her debut at the track as well! It turned out to be a good day for them to come. Finally got all aspects kicking together at the same time! Richie started outside pole in the heat and finished 4th. Once again in the handicapping, he would line up outside pole for the feature. He jumped out to the early lead and once again lead 5 laps, before being over taking for the lead. He ran second until a lap 15 restart, where he fell back to 4th. He ran a great rest of the race in fourth and would just loose fourth on the last lap and come home 5th! Our second top 5 of the season! This was also our 7th finish in a row and we ran the 6th fastest lap of the feature, so the car is right there too!

We are heading back to Waterford this Saturday for our last trip there of the season. There are only 4 more races left in the season, so come on out and see Coy Racing and their driver Richie Coy at the track!
