Coy Racing Back on Podium at Angelillo Memorial

The Coy Racing team was happy to head back to the Waterford Speedbowl this weekend.  After management shut down the track for a week, another management team moved in and kept the track on course.  Coy Racing has a big THANK YOU to the new and old management team for doing their best to keep racing going at the “Bowl.”

The guys made a minor change to the car during the week and man did it wake the car up!  Richie paced the field in both practices and spoiler alert…the feature.  After practice the guys decided to make some changes to car to “make it better” and it didn’t.  Richie started the heat race 7th and was able to hang on to a 6th place finish, which put him in the handicapping for the feature.

Richie lined up 10th in the feature.  He slowly started to march his way forward during the 25 lap race.  He was 8th by halfway, then 5th a few laps later.  He would go on to record the fastest lap of the feature as he ran down the 3rd and 4th place cars.  He caught them with 2 laps to go and the 2 cars in front of him did a synchronize spin off of turn 2.  This put Richie 3rd with a green white checkered.  He wasn’t able to move forward in the last 2 laps and settled for 3rd.

A couple weeks ago NEMA took the action to Star Speedway for the Marvin Rifchin Memorial Race. In the NEMA series Jim Chambers took home the checkers, and Avery Stoehr in the Lites.
